Essential but will fall off. Just glue it on honestly

They're very easy to setup, and have a lot better quality than I expected, for the price I would buy them again.

NVG40

Works as advertised. No problem seeing at night with ambient light . Total darkness no problem with the IR. Exceeded my expectations and very pleased with purchase. Would highly recommend.

ODST Vision

My background is in military dismounted reconnaissance as well as law enforcement. I’ve also sold L3 Harris NVG’s and top tier thermal as a living. I’ve looked through all kinds of NODs and thermal, including a good amount of time on PVS-31A’s.

The NVG50 is insane for what it is. This is the future, and proof that someday, digital night vision will surpass analogue tubes (I said it). The first thing to note is: what is it like to use? The performance is not as bright as analogue Gen III, but that’s not the worst thing. It’s definitely usable and functions in places where your eyes absolutely do not. The picture is incredibly clear, and it’s unfortunate that the recording function doesn’t capture the clarity of actually using the device, and using another device to record its display is not ideal. I have not had one person look through it in a dark space, including in dark interior rooms, that was not blown away and without using IR light. This includes two 18-series soldiers. As well, at distance, it focuses BETTER than PVS-14’s. Surprising, but I think it has an advantage at distance over analogue, or at least analogue without auto gated lenses. I have used it a lot outside at distances between 300 and 600 yards, and it can focus on distant objects better than most PVS-14’s I’ve used. I’m incredibly impressed at distance.

The color mode is especially awesome when in mixed lighting conditions. I would say it is akin to using the night vision in Halo 3: ODST minus the outlining feature. It is a huge advantage over the naked eye. Another plus is that I have an external battery bank on my helmet that charges it without having a fancy battery bank, and I actually have a kit in my faraday bag that lets me recharge my NVG50 from my solar panels, and it charges in about 2 hours from the sun alone, which is incredible.

The cons are the mount of the NVG50. The mount it comes with is subpar. Also, it could use a tie down loop. I had to build my own out of 550 cord and shock cord, and I’m nervous with the poor mount about the long term use. But I’m pleasantly surprised about the recent Wilcox mounting arm being available which is a must and will be my next buy.

Lastly, I’ve also looked through the ADNV G14’s and those are even better. If you can get one, you’ll be blown away.

The future of NVG’s will be digital. It’s just a bit slower in development than many would hope. If you’re considering it, you will not be sorry by buying this.

Got my NVG-30s and helmet setup from Good Nite Gear, and I have to say — these guys know what they’re doing. The quality is legit. Everything came in fast, packed right, and works like a charm. Night vision is crisp, clear, and exactly what I needed for my training setup.

Customer service? Solid. They’re quick to answer questions and actually care if you’re satisfied. Rare these days.

Wore the helmet and goggles outside and I swear I felt like I unlocked a stealth perk in real life. Neighbors probably think I’m prepping for something big… they’re not wrong 😎

Very High Resolution and Good Light+ IR Sensitivity

The best resolution (total # of pixels) in the display screen I've seen in any digital or analog (I have a few Gen 3s also). Unlike almost all other NV stuff that has an electronic 'ON' switch, this does not drain the battery in a few weeks or months while left 'OFF'. At about 33 microamps of 'OFF' current, it would take about 8 years sitting in a shelf to drain the battery. The 940 nanometer illuminator is far enough into the IR that at this wavelenght, a Gen 3 GaAs tube is about as sensitive as the NV 30, although the NV 30 has longer lag time.
CON: The eyepiece optic is not very good. It's quite wide, but if your eye is off center there's lots of coma (blur). I've got 2 of the NV 30s, and I made a black disk with a 1/4" hole in the center to place over the eyepiece of each. This corrects the problem. Note that this correction does not reduce the light sensitivity, because it does not affect the front (objective) lens. It only restricts where you place your eye relative to the eyepiece.
OVERALL: I prefer this over a Gen 3 unless very fast response is needed. It's lighter weight, much higher res, with a 1x-4x digital zoom that's actually useful, and it can see in color (and do video recording, which I don't use).

Im happy with it, does pretty good in low light and high light areas without the ir illuminator. One thing that i wish was different was the screen, it would be nice if it kept the same fov but was a square so I could see better vertically. Other than that I would say its worth the price.

My nvg30

I Don't know where to start, but I'm going to try. Some of you guys and girls maynt have any military experience using night vision, but take it from somebody that have. I'm retired reon marine 18 years of service. I have use PVS14 and i have use qwatch. And my NVG30s rocks. I have put them to the test. This last weekend Some of my old team with night skydiving. They held up like brand new money. We went on the 15 mile hike. And Got alittle dusting with night shooting the glare and the Muzzle flash from my AR and AK and the scar. Didn't do no harm to my lens. Or anything everything held up like unbelievable. God, it just unbelievable.
If I ever want. A backup pair for my EPNVG I will always without thinking twice I will break out my NVG30. A big shout out to goodnight gear team please hook me up to the next new pair. You guys rock!!!! Thanks Goodnight Gear. Ret Ssgt force Recon Semper fi

Decent Piece of Gear

Does what you expect it to do, simplistic in design and durable enough for the field. Will need to do more testing for myself but for the price this is a very reasonable solution to running 2 NVG50s as a binocular set up.

Worth the price

I’m really happy with it, its purpose is a pvs14 mount for me. I have a very average head, fits perfect, lots of adjustment. Shroud fits my mount perfectly. Great customer service, I made an error on my order, they fixed it super quick. Would 100% buy this again.

Badas

Back in the day when I was in the Recon the "PVS14" was are go to but this NVS30 dose the job on the field!! Believe me if I was looking for a dam good Back up this is the one I would buy again.!!

Little big but good for airsoft.

It fits well with my airsoft gear, has basically no lag and super good fov. My only complaint is the arm isn't perfect but it works, it basically doesnt go down far enough for me. but this is amazing for you to get for airsoft night games especially milsims

NGV50 vs NGV30

I personally believe the ngv30 is better. Of course everyone is entitled to there own opinion, n almost every YouTube video I've seen praises the NGV50. Here's what I've experienced. The NGV50 is definitely sharper in image quality than the ngv30. But unfortunately because it's so sharp it also requires u to refocus constantly. The ngv30 being a bit less in image quality u don't really notice the picture when it's slightly out of focus. Which to me makes it more usable. I don't have to focus as much. Also the eye lense being bigger I thought was gonna give me a better eye relief. But I found to me it was the opposite. I find the ngv30 better on the eye. Then of course the ngv30 shape to me is more comfortable as a helmet mounted device. I guess it's closer to a pvs14 as far as shape. I really hope the thermal coming up will be in the shape of the ngv30, no hope it will have Auto focus or at least have a focus of from 5yrds to 20yrds without having to refocus. The sionyx Aurora sport has an awesome lense as far as everything is in focus from right in front of you to about 20yrds or so. If they could get that tech in there it be perfect. Well that and somehow a better eye relief. Especially with eye pro. My main use for this is airsoft, so eye pro is a must...hope this review helps because I really like this product overall

Bump helmet blk m

It has features of expensive ballistic helmets.fitswell mounts tight.Doubles as a bicycle helmet. Exploring options, upgrades, curent events, should I save up for ballistics? Awillcox mount, ir illumination.,ear pro mounts,on and on. Training. Pt, rule of seven p's.? Previous proper planing prevents piss poor preformince This is probably not what you where expecting..

Pretty awesome piece of gear

Good nite ships really fast. Everything was brand new and in the box as advertised. The extra plates included will fix the NVG30 to the standard J-arm screw. Same as the standard tri-pod mounts used in the USA. I hope to buy another soon. The visual quality of the NGV30 is better then what I used in Afghanistan & Iraq when I was in the military from 98-06. I've never used the modern mods or anything that came after NVGs, so i can't compare them to the more modern NV.

Overall good product for price point happy with purchase

Well built, batteries go fast , when the wide lens adapter is installed it creates a shadow with IR light effecting the visibility, so kinda counterproductive and waste of money but overall thank you and cool stickers

A must have! Ready to protect my family.

I purchased a battery pack tactical helmet carry cover and fit perfectly. It does counter balance the NVG weight. I tested the system in total darkness room and after turning on the IR, I was able to see everything perfectly.
Turn on the IR laser and shoot without using any sights.

Stay away....My prior review was before receiving. Do NOT buy.

They post videos online with videos made from recording through the phone....why? Because the onboard video is worse than a 1980's camcorder. Buy this if you are ok spending $500 on what you can almost do now, with your Iphone in night mode.
I am pissed off....AND...the battery compartment is on the front, next to the view screen. I tried attaching a triadapter (great product) to clamp my phone...but with the battery there...you can't...
$500 toy....false advertising.

Just received mine.....I feel really good about this purchase.

My 10 year boy and I have been enjoying learning about night vision and star gazing. The reviews and demo videos online all pointed toward the NVG30 being the best bang for your buck in the under $500 range....and really....it gives some of the $1000 rigs a rock solid challenge regarding performance.
Yes....digital won't ever be the same as analog...I'm a musician...and I get the give/take. Either way, this is a great product, and the immediate response from Kyle with Good Nite when I had a question was impressive.
If you're thinking of buying....do it. Very careful consumer here, and I am so glad I finally have mine!

Good product overall, noticed 2 minor things. Diopter doesnt seem to turn much but it goes enough to work. It just feels off that it doesnt match my other unit. The battery cap also screws on rough, makes my wotry about cross threading. All in all not enough concern to warrent the hassel of a replacement, the unit still works amazingly.

KIJI K1 / NVG30 / GOODNIGHT GEAR

All honesty I have been very impressed with the entire set up as a whole. I did buy a kit from them all in all definitely works well. I will say the only downside I have found is the helmet padding is weird and wearing it for more than 2hrs the front band tends to dig into your forehead a bit , but easy fix with some foam. The NVG30 works super well for what it is I’ve been using it to bobcat and coyote hunt at night and all in all it’s awesome has plenty of life works very well. Now going to the KIJI K1 yes it works just as well and yes it takes the batteries that it says , I ran it for about 3 hours straight and it was super easy and put out great light for the NV set up I was using along with good battery life. All in all it’s a great set up . I am very exited to eventually try out the NVG50 down the road.

Seems like a good add on.

This external battery pack seems well made. Have had it in hard use yet. Just playing around in my field and house. Not a fan of the screw closure. I feel it may wear/strip out, if frequently opened and closed. Other then my untested thoughts this is great. It’s light weight, pretty small, with strong hook and look attachment. Solid add in!!

NVG 50

Great performing unit Thank you GOODNITE!

I am very happy with my purchase, everything works right out of the box, and they are easy to use (read the manual!!). For the price point they are excellent, they feel built with quality and the optic is very clear, i'm excited to use them in the summer at night for target practice or even pest control. And shout out to Kyle for taking care of me!!
